Famous People From Tampa, Florida

Even more interesting than the fancy destinations and activities in Tampa are the famous personalities that sprouted from this region.

Here are some of our favorite people from Tampa:

JoAnna Garcia

Joanna Garcia

If you have ever watched or were a fan of the hit TV show Reba, then you might already be jumping on your seats as you hear the name "JoAnna Garcia." Garcia met her fame when she portrayed the role of Cheyenne Hart-Montgomery in Reba.

Aside from that, she also played other roles in other TV shows such as "Once Upon A Time," "The Astronaut Wives Club," and "The Privileged."

Sarah Paulson

Sarah Paulson

Sarah Paulson is one of my personal favorites since I was pretty fond of watching "American Horror Story" back in the day. She is both a film and TV actress. Paulson also played other roles in TV shows like "American Gothic," "Jack And Jill," "What Women Want," and "Down With Love."

Aaron Carter

Aaron Carter

If you are a 90s kid, say no more, the name Aaron Carter will most definitely ring a bell. He was one of the biggest heartthrobs during his time. Carter was hailed as a singer, but he also once appeared in the 9th Season of "Dancing With Our Stars." Before Carter started getting into show business, he was already getting some attention from people because he was the little brother of Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter.

Tony La Russa

Tony Larussa

Calling out all baseball fans out there! It turns out the long line of famous people from Tampa isn't just about TV shows and celebrities. We still have room for sports athletes and personalities. Tony La Russa is a professional baseball player and is currently the Chief Baseball Officer for the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Jerry Flynn

His real name is William Brenneman, and he is a professional wrestler and martial artist. He was only famous for the name Jerry Flynn because this was the name that he took up earlier on in his career when he started getting into the ring. Between 1996 and 2000, you would always see Flynn's appearances in the World Championship Wrestling. There were also instances when he gave an appearance in Japan along with Pro Wrestling Fujiwara Gumi and New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Now, Flynn is retired from his long-time career and works as a coal mine foreman at Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Shawn Pyfrom

You might recognize Shawn Pyfrom in ABC's hit TV Show, Desperate Housewives. He played the role of Andrew Van de Kamp. At first, he only appeared as a guest in the program, but after recurring requests to have him on the show, it wasn't long before he became a series regular. Shawn also took on a role from Disney Playhouse's Stanley as Lionel Griff.

Lauren Mayhew

Mayhew is a well-known actress as well as a ring announcer. In 2012, she appeared on Showtime's series, Dexter, as Melanie Garret. That wasn't her first and last time on the screen. She also starred in other TV shows and films such as CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami, Private High Musical, and many more. She topped her career when she became a ring announcer for WWE in 2009.
